Both Televisions and Projectors have their pros and cons when used in a home theatre system. There are several questions that will help determine which is the right choice for your space. What is the size of the room, and how many people will be watching? How much ambient light is in the space? A dedicated theatre room that can be easily darkened will favor a projector, whereas a living room with lots of ambient light, and wanting to use the system in the daytime will lean more towards a TV.

The main factor to consider when determining how many speakers to have in your home theatre system is the size of the room, and generally, the larger the room, the more speakers you can accommodate. That being said, when working within a budget, most audio enthusiasts would agree that the quality of your equipment takes precedence over having a large number of lower quality surround speakers. Another important factor to consider is the source of the videos you are watching, and what surround sound capabilities are supported. Netflix for example, supports up to 5.1 channel surround sound, as well as Dolby Atmos. A 7.1 channel system would not be utilized to its full potential in this case. The app you are using to browse a streaming service can also impact its audio compatibility. Amazon Prime Video launched from a Samsung Smart TV will support 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos, however if Prime Video is launched from a connected Xbox One or Playstation, Dolby Atmos will no longer be supported.
Dolby Atmos takes your traditional surround sound system, and adds a height channel to create a three dimensional audio experience. In a traditional system, for example a 5.1, you are surrounded by speakers in a two dimensional plane. With Dolby Atmos, in-ceiling or upfiring speakers add the height dimension to the sound. The difference is a far more realistic audio experience. In a scene with a helicopter for example, instead of hearing the helicopter go around you from the front to back speakers, you can actually hear it go directly over your head!
